The Economic Alliance for the Santa Clarita Valley
The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Alliance (SCVEA) is a collaborative effort between private and public sectors to attract new business to the Santa Clarita Valley, assist in the retention and expansion of business already located in the Santa Clarita Valley and to create new jobs. In June 2002, James E. Brown of Newhall Land, Henry Leyva and Greg Whitney with the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation, Mike Haviland with the City of Santa Clarita and Doug Sonderegger and Craig Peters of CB Richard Ellis officially formed the SCVEA as a non-political group to support companies seeking assistance with their relocation and expansion needs in the Santa Clarita Valley. Since the SCVEA's inception, more than 20 companies, encompassing more than 600,000 square feet of buildings and providing nearly 1,000 new jobs, have benefited from the SCVEA.
In striving to attract new business to the Santa Clarita Valley, the SCVEA proactively contacts and consults with companies located in Los Angeles County who are most likely to benefit from the economic opportunities and business friendly environment in the Santa Clarita Valley. To retain the expansion needs of companies already located in the Santa Clarita Valley, the SCVEA capitalizes on its member network and takes a "hands on" approach to problem solving.
Key areas that the SCVEA provides assistance to companies include: Interpret building codes, expediting the permitting and licensing process, streamlining and accelerating the public/private process, addressing environmental, office, tech and industrial issues, site selection, leasing and building acquisitions, maintaining key contacts with public agencies and provide resources, and providing economic and demographic information, industry statistics and industry support resources.
The SCVEA enhances the business friendly environment in today's competitive economic climate by constantly striving to improve the overall business experience that companies have when dealing with the City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County. The SCVEA - "Working for Business"
