James E. Brown

In the seven (7) years Mr. Brown has been associated with Newhall Land he has been instrumental in shaping the business and economic profile within Valencia and was the vision behind Valencia Gateway. Valencia Gateway is the single designation for the nine business sectors within the community and is recognized as the largest master-planned center for Business, Technology and Industrial in Los Angeles County. The Gateway currently encompasses 4,700 acres, 22.5 million square feet (office; 1.9 million square feet, Industrial; 16.9 million square feet and retail 3.7 million square feet), 1,200 companies and 41,500 employees and at "build-out" will encompass 44.0 million square feet, 3,000 companies and 88,500 employees. Under BrownÕs leadership the Gateway has brought a new geographical alternative and dimension as to how people Live, Work and Play in North Los Angeles County.

Mr. Brown has thirty-five (35) years in a management role as a partner and executive within the real estate industry. His core areas of responsibilities include: Development/Redevelopment, Portfolio Manager, Acquisition and Disposition of Investment Properties, Tenant Representation/Site Selection, Consulting, Real Estate Brokerage, Marketing, Leasing/Sales of industrial, office and retail property designations i.e. Development 21.7 million square feet, Acquisition and Disposition 7.0 million square feet having an asset value of $593 million and Leasing/Asset Management 11.7 million square feet having an asset value of $1.45 billion.

Prior to joining Newhall Land, Mr. Brown was a Partner with Westar Associates Inc., Costa Mesa, CA; Senior Vice President and Partner The Sammis Company (now Sares-Regis) Irvine, CA; Vice President/Regional Manager Grubb & Ellis Company (Chairman of Executive Committee) San Diego, CA; Vice President Dillingham Land, Los Angeles, CA and Assistant Secretary with Bishop Trust in Honolulu, HI.

A Southern California native Mr. Brown earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California in Public Administration.

Brown is an active member of several professional and community organizations, including the American Industrial Real Estate Association (AIR; past Board of Director member), Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), Valley Industrial Association (VIA; past Board of Director member), National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP; Board of Director member), Santa Clarita Valley Economic Alliance (SCVEA).
